Optional tempo workout for this week:
Tempo Intervals – Start with a warm up mile, then switch off every other mile between a mile at 10k pace and a mile at recovery pace.
Goal: Tempo intervals break up the traditional tempo run. The goal here is that in a traditional tempo run, you run at your lactate threshold for the later part of the tempo period. With slightly faster intervals, you run at the threshold multiple times adding up to more time at threshold than the traditional tempo. Thats the idea anyhow.
