Change of Scenery

13 men showed up on time and started their week off right by going left.  1 man showed up a few seconds too late and started this Monday off wrong by going right.  (Reminds YHC of the old saying about male earrings: Left is right, right is wrong, wear them on both you’re Elton John.)  It was a solid crew out there this morning and here is what you missed if you didn’t make it:

The Thang:

  • Mosey out of the Dowd lot, right on Lexington, LEFT on South Blvd. Stop for some merkins and Russian twists.  Continue onward along South Blvd.  Diamonds and Russian twists.  Stillll going down South Blvd #arewethereyet.  Wide-arms and Russian twists.  Finally, we made it to Lowe’s
  • Partner wheelbarrows up the short ramp (1x each – audible out due to high volume of cars pre-6am)
  • Modified Jacob’s Ladder on long ramp, sticking to left side to avoid traffic (burpees at top, squat jumps at the bottom)
  • Dolly, LBCs, Flutters, and Dips at the top
  • Partner carry up the long ramp for good measure
  • Out of Lowe’s, left on Iverson, left on Lyndhurst, all the way down to Latta Park with merkins and Russian twists along the way
  • Dips, Derkins, and step-ups at the park
  • Quick stop for pull-ups and squats at Dilworth Elementary
  • 2 mins left, AYG back to the Dowd

Naked Moleskin:

As Black Bear found out the hard way, we went off campus this morning taking a left instead of right on South Blvd.  Sounds like he headed to the Muthaship so hopefully the workout was #enjoyable.  Nonetheless, we were happy to have Black Bear at COT.  Quiet crew as we took off down South Blvd, but the mumble chatter progressively picked up as the morning went on.  Stinger kept trying to figure out where we were going and it didn’t take long for Cindy to voice his displeasure with the South Blvd scenery, but YHC didn’t ruin the surprise.  Chair Thrower was volunteered by Stinger to take over Q duties in case YHC blew a fuse early.  Not sure if CT ever agreed to that arrangement, but luckily it didn’t come to that.  YHC used Doobie as a pace car on the Jacob’s Ladder.  Guy never stops and just keeps moving forward.  Same with Tormund.  He puts in the work everyday.  We passed by Starbuck’s house to check on the new flowers that were planted this weekend #gladtohaveyoubackincharlotte.  Curly all of a sudden became very interested in where we were heading next.  Apparently he was still feeling some of the effects of the sickness going around his family last week and had to make a quick pit stop at the house.  Hillary said if it were him, he wouldn’t have come back to the workout.  Hats off to Curly for record timing; barely noticed you were gone.  TML offered up some great Q-wisdom.  He said when guys get out in front and go the wrong way, let them go the wrong way just a little longer before you reel them back in #noted.  Glad to have FNG Westworld out this morning.  Westworld was invited by Holtz, who similar to Gandalf when he invited Prophet a couple weeks back, didn’t make it to the workout #P2Wstyle.  Westworld played basketball at Elon and Hillary is going to report back to us who holds a higher spot in the record books: him or Cindy.  Westworld held his own until the AYG at the end, where thankfully Checkpoint guided him home.  Pretty impressive showing by Checkpoint considering he ran 35ish miles in the P200 this weekend.  Seems like he’s setting a new record in something every weekend and yet he still makes it to all the F3 workouts during the week.  Apologies for the extra credit.  YHC’s only other Q experience is Fortitude.  P2W is #slightly different.  Thank you to Gandalf for the opportunity to Q.  Gandalf and all the UNC fans had much more bounce in their step this Monday compared to last.  In Cindy’s words, “F you Grayson Allen.”

Great takeout by Checkpoint reminding us to be thankful for all the blessings we have received.

Cindy might not have been pleased with the route this morning, but I was more than pleased when I was able to make an emergency stop at my own house. At that point, it was getting pretty dicey. Was able to get back out of the house and find you guys pretty quickly I guess. Not sure what I missed, but I would have preferred to stay with the PAX, believe me.

Thrust, nice first Q at PWW. There will always be guys who bitch. Just ignore them or laugh at them. Glad we had 2 Elon ballers in the pax today. Westworld had a higher FT % and less TO’s and no technicals.

Enjoyed that one Thrust. Indian Hill has taken us to that Lowe’s ramp before. As you saw, it is easily managed by staying on the left. Well done. Also in fairness to Holtz, Westworld informed me that he picked this workout from the website. Maybe we need some *’s like the Chinese menu’s. #extraspicy

This workout went from a D- to a middle B just because of this BB. #morecindy

Checkpoint must have hit some extra Boost on Sunday, cuz YHC had nothing yesterday morning. #Repat

NOTE: honestly, I thought Cindy was a Grayson fan. Surprised to find out otherwise.
