TODAYS ‘SKIN:

Been in a funk lately. Yeah, that kind of funk where you start wondering if a temporary prescription to Prozac might be in order. For some reason, this annual melancholy always hits around May.  Seems to be tied to the end of the school season and the impending disruptions to the family routine.  YHC suddenly finds himself reflecting upon the events of the year and pining for “the good ole days.” But I’ve come to recognize this yearly pattern for what it is — a minor adjustment in an otherwise blessed life.    This mood shall pass, and the summer months and the year ahead will bring new and exciting opportunities.   Such was my mindset today heading into the Gloom at Fortitude – what a great place to lift the spirits and put life in the right perspective!

Energy today was high at this small-batch workout.  So much easier to keep the PAX together and enjoy the 2F when you only have 11.   Several new faces (to me) out there today.   Introduced to Death Row and Oz this morning, both of whom arrived early to stretch and case the AO for possible criminal activity. Ice9 warned me that all you prosecutors have type-A personalities.

Country, Pipeline, Witch Doctor and someone else came rolling into the AO full clown-car mode. Car still moving as PAX were opening doors and piling out of the back seat. Witch Doctor looked a little gimpy getting out of the car with his cane, but the man proved mobile and kept up with the PAX throughout.

The repeated patterns with the blocks today should make for sore shoulders and biceps.   #Enjoy.  Want to give a special shout out to Fruit of the Loom.  FoTL might be the most consistent (non-Site Q) PAX at this workout. #dedication.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mark your calendar for June 23, 2018 at 8:30am to run the 3rd Annual Strides for Shelter 5K at McAlpine Park. Proceeds from the 2018 Strides for Shelter 5K Run / Walk will benefit Men’s Shelter of Charlotte. Funds will be used for the ongoing renovation of the 1210 North Tryon Street campus which has not had any major improvements since its warehouse conversion in 1985. Every night, this campus provides 216 emergency shelter beds and more than 50 additional spaces during extreme weather. The renovation provides for critical repairs, improved functionality and dignity (more privacy in dorms/showers, more openness in community areas), and much improved aesthetics that exude more hope and inspiration. Thanks for a great morning.
