Pax – Many of us, maybe even all of us, unfortunately have a friend, niece, nephew, cousin, brother, or sister who has been impacted by pediatric cancer. The stories are countless and our local charity, 24 Foundation, is hosting a 24,000 Mile Challenge this weekend, January 9-10th , to raise awareness and money to make an immediate impact on pediatric cancer.
The mission of 24, and this challenge, is to support pediatric cancer navigation and survivorship programs here in Charlotte. The foundation, famously known for 24 Hours of Booty, is going to make an immediate impact NOW on the lives of children affected by cancer. All donations from this event are going to pediatric cancer navigation services. The beneficiaries include:
- Levine Children’s Hospital
- Claire’s Army
- Pinky Swear Foundation
How do you participate? I’m glad you asked. GAAP and I have teamed up to create an F3 Team. There are a few ways to join.
First, sign up on the F3 Team here: https://events.24foundation.org/team/334113.
Second, decide what physical activity you are going to do this weekend to put in miles. Your options include:
- Post at your favorite F3 Workout (or run, walk, ride over the weekend) and send your mileage count to WhatDid ([email protected]). Mileage is important because the foundation wants to spread the word and get to the magical # of 24,000 Miles.
- Choose one of the 24,000 Mile Challenge events we’re hosting, which include:
- Booty Loop 4 Miler (running) on Saturday (1/9) at 10 AM.
- Q – WhatDid
- AO Location – Goldman (Queens and Providence)
- Ruck Option on Sunday (1/10) at 5:45 AM
- Q – GAAP (@F3GAAP on Twitter or [email protected])
- AO Location – Mugs Coffee shop, 5126 Park Road; we’ll be joining the Confession crew
- Distance/Format: This will be an incremental structure with the first Ruckers stepping off at 5:45 for 3.5 miles to return at 6:45 to pick up the second wave for another 4 miles. Feel free to join us for either/both segments. Coffeeteria to follow at Mugs.
- Booty Loop 4 Miler (running) on Saturday (1/9) at 10 AM.
If you cannot participate, please share the event with friends and family. You can also support by picking up some cool swag; which is found .
If you have any questions – contact WhatDid at @bmac29 on Twitter or via email at [email protected].
