2 Man Fartlek Wouldn’t Work
The BackBlast:
Since a 2 Man Fartlek wouldn’t work, Deertick and I waited for late arrivers Gridlock and Spooky, and YHC was able to carry on with the original plan, which was:
Warm up lap
Example Fartlek Lap at social distance allowing the last pax to exert at least some effort to sprint to the front.
Mosey to bottom of Goshen for next Fartlek segment to Walker.
Mosey to Linda Lane for next Fartlek segment to Water Oak.
Mosey down to bottom of hill on Linda Lane for next Fartlek segment to end of Linda Lane.
Mosey back up Linda Lane to Water Oak.
Fartlek Linda Lane to Walker then continue with Mosey down Linda Lane, take right to next road on right.
Fartlek up that road to Walker then Mosey to bottom of Goshen for another Fartlek up Goshen to Walker.
Mosey to Judith and Fartlek up to Water Oak, where we continued onto the track.
Fartlek 2 laps, followed by cool down lap and couple of minutes of stretching.

Spooky and Gridlock were the rabbits while Deertick kept YHC company leading from the back. Doing Fartleks allows everyone to take the lead at multiple times during the workout. To do so, the other pax have to intentionally run slower. We did not 10 counts for the record (although we did take “pauses” to restack the Fartlek, but none of those “pauses” took 10 seconds).
Reviewing the original guidelines for SIBling Rivalry, they called for a max of 3 miles at speed, and YHC believes we came in under that this morning since Fartlek’s are not exactly at speed.
Goal was to do a combination of interval training and hill work. Hills are somewhat limited within a reasonable distance of RMS, but YHC believes this Fartlek thing on King of the Hills type segments would be awful.
