The Running of the Cans

A highlight among a treasure trove of highlights in the Splinter Group’s year is the annual Running of the Cans. Splinter is a running only CORE group which is a contradiction in terms.In the last few years Splinter has further splintered off a separate rucking group that leaves and ends at the same AO as the runners. Once a year we join forces for the annual Running of the Cans where we run, walk or crawl cans of food to the Hillside Avenue drop off. The canned goods go to Loaves and Fishes, a tremendous cause to support particularly during this time of CV related unemployment. The big plus is Hillside is a spectacular running destination and is just the right distance for both runners and ruckers to reach within our appointed time.

Being able to both exercise and give back to the community is a huge win for us guys. I appreciate the many opportunities that Charlotte gives us to give back a little of what God has blessed us with and have a great time doing it. Splinter is a faithful group that runs or rucks  in all kinds of crazy weather which makes us stronger and gives us the incentive to pass on that strength to those in need. I truly appreciate the fun year we in Core have had and the many opportunities of fellowship and service such as the Blood Drive and this can run that have spun out of the hearts of these brothers.
