The BackBlast:
It’s been months since I’ve been to Black Widow. My go to Tuesday has been the little Shore Card next door to BW. It was good to have the opportunity to lead.
The BW crew showed up in time for some Extra Credit. YHC was pleased. We followed Pitino over to the road for him to plant the Shovel Flag and we were off. We headed down Sharon Road for what I thought would be an easy warm up mile. However, I did not know the pax have a regular routine of a 1. 5 mile lap that Prohel decided to make a hot mile. While cruising down Sharon Road we realized we were coming in hot at sub 7 min / mile only to see Prohel just keep accelerating. YHC decided to chase the rabbit, which that’s the best I did, back to the 0530 Main Event.
In usual Black Widow style, there was a crowed, quick assessment it seemed like 40 guys. We circled up for a quick COP.
- 25 SSH
- 10 Merkins
- 10 Peter Parkers
Then we were off over to PUM Church. There we paired up, socially distance encouraged.
- Partner 1 – Run up the stairs, 10 merkins at the top, across the walkway down the stairs and then 5 burpees.
- Partner 2 – Run a hot lap down the parking lot towards Knollwood and back up to the start. Knock out 10 burpees and flap jack with your partner.
Rinse and repeat 3 X.
Then we headed out down Knollwood to Wintergreen. There, keep your same partners, and
- Partner 1 would run up Wintergreen to Ferncliff while
- Partner 2 would knock out Merkins, LBC, or other exercise of their choice*
YHC didn’t realize the blowback the pax would dish out for running up to Ferncliff. They made it seem that Ferncliff was 2 miles away. While knocking out the exercises it sure felt like it was.
We knocked this out for 2 rounds then headed back up Knollwdood to PUM Church. There we punched out a quick walk through the parking lot by doing lunges followed up with bear crawls.
Out of PUM Church over to St. Gabs. YHC wanted knock out a quick set of 7s. We did 1 dip, 6 derkins, 2 dip, 5 derkins (you get it).
Sloppy, of all people, wasn’t to fond of the sweat tracks I was leaving. All good – he could move spots. We’re free to move.
Out of St. Gabs over to the hot box. The hot box is my jam on Tuesday. I had to pay it a quick visit. At the top of the stairs in front of the Organic Eye Brow Bar (I think ‘shine owns the joint), keep your same partners and
- Partner 1 knocks out more derkins
- Partner 2 runs down into the hot box, knock out 3 pull ups and head back to partner 1.
- Rinse and repeat 3X.
Then we moseyed back for NOR and COT.
NMM
There was lots of chatter like these guys haven’t seen each other since Covid started. But I’m pretty sure based on their fitness, it was only last week at the latest. The pax where moving.
Pax didn’t like the call up Wintergreen. I’m not sure if it was clear instructions or the perceived effort required. Either way, they measured and up and it was good for real time feedback.
