The BackBlast:

YHC was pleased to be joined by a good showing of runner want-a-be’s this morning. How many you say? The answer is 10.  That’s pretty solid for SiblingRivalry.  So whatever Toolbelt is doing, don’t stop!

I believe, generally, no one likes Burpees.  True? Or, maybe, pax just don’t like a lot of burpees, especially all together.  That being my hypothesis, I designed my virtual weinke to sprinkle in Burpees, but only 5 at a time.  Hardly worth pax grumbling about that many I thought.  Not only did I sprinkle them in, I included them as part of the BLIMPS we did throughout the workout.  More on BLIMPS later, but first, let’s deal with what it means to mix “sprinkle” and “Burpee” in the same sentence.  Is there really any such thing as “sprinkling” Burpees? Is “sprinkle” ok to use in terms of Burpee up to a point, and then above that point the action verb should more aptly be “throw down” such as “The Q threw down on the pax the call to do 15 Burpees”.  I know I definitely would share my thoughts with the Q at that point.  For today, the call to do just 5 Burpees didn’t cause a lot of mumble chatter.  I also wonder how many pax post at SIBling Rivalry because it is just a “running” workout, and even the call to do any Burpees might have offended them.  Thanks for letting me share that with you, and if you just read all that, don’t you have something better you should be doing – maybe some Burpees.

The BLIMPS Thang

We started with SSH x20 waiting for a few stragglers who Gridlock suggested we not name.

We ran to the entrance of the school and started deconstructing BLIMPS.
Burpees x5

We took a left on Water Oak and ran to Bertonley and did
Lunges x5

We took a left on Bertonley and ran to Pineview (who Toolbelt correct YHC on the way back was not “Pinecrest”) and did
Imperial Walkers x5

We took a right on Pineview and ran towards McAlway, but before we got there we stopped and said “Good Morning” to ReddFoxx and what I believe may have been his Shield Lock working out in his garage.  The other Matlock was there tossing around some iron with at least one other, who since we kept our distance I couldn’t make out who it was.  We continued on to McAlway and did
Merkins x5

We took a left on McAlway and ran to Ridgecrest and did
PlankJacks x5

We took a right on Ridgecrest and ran to Ellsworth and did
Squats x5

This is where the Hill Training segment came in.  Deertick and Hoover are both doing BRR in a couple of weeks and this segment really benefitted them, although I think they would say it benefitted everyone just the same.

We moseyed to the end of Ellsworth to start another version of BLIMPS by

Running back to where we turned onto Ellsworth and did
Burpees x5 (another sprinkling)

Recovery Mosey to end of Ellsworth and Ran back to top of Ellsworth and did
Lunges x5

Recovery Mosey to end of Ellsworth and Ran back to top of Ellsworth and did
Imperial Walkers x5

Recovery Mosey to end of Ellsworth and Ran back to top of Ellsworth and did
Merkins x5

Recovery Mosey to end of Ellsworth and Ran back to top of Ellsworth and did
Plankjacks x5

Recovery Mosey to end of Ellsworth and AYG back to top of Ellsworth and did
Squats x5

Greyhounds did Mary waiting for the Six

Going back to the start, we reversed our course and reversed BLIMPS by doing SPMILB which there is no pronunciation known to man.

Back at the start, we yielded to other runners on our track and did 6 minutes of mary in the parking lot
Freddie Mercury
Leg Lifts
Russian Twists
GTE24 standard situps (Hoover experienced PSTD from GTE24 when I called for these in particular)
Carolina Dry Docks
Heels to Heaven

Humidity was heavy this morning, but all the pax knocked out the BLIMPS and hills effortlessly with a minimum of mumble chatter, but I may have missed most of it leading from the rear.  Repeating hill work at least gives YHC the chance to see all the pax when they pass him, or lap him, but audibles are also easier to communicate.  From that vantage point, it appeared that Gridlock and Toolbelt were out front, followed by a contingent of Smithers, Matlock, Gravedancer and Deertick, followed closely by the balance of the pax who obviously knew better how to manage their time on the hills then by crushing themselves trying to be at the front.  Good to be back at SIBlingRivalry and honored to Q.

Carrier

PS – on the way back, we stopped momentarily again at ReddFoxx’s garage, but since he, nor his guests, offered us any refreshments, we continued on our way back to the start.  Another thing about ReddFoxx, he’s also pretty much fed up with Burpees.
