When Katherine was delivering her twin daughters, Ellyn and Mackie, on October 11, 2023, she developed life-threatening post-delivery complications. She required 7 ½ units of blood and blood products to survive. Luckily, what she needed was available only because of the generosity of blood donors. On June 4, 2026, she died because of a tragic accident during her morning run. She adored her twin girls, and she cherished her role as “Mommy”. She impacted so many people, and she is deeply loved. Reflecting on her life, however, she would not have had over 2 ½ years with her beautiful “ladies” if it were not for the availability of blood. Donating blood is one of the easiest things to do, yet it saves so many lives! Because of donors like you, this allowed Katherine to spend perhaps the best years of her life with her husband, Pell, and her daughters, Ellyn and Mackie.
