Hardcore/Not Hardcore

AO: Hardcore

When: 10/08/2020

QIC: Sloppy

Number of Pax: 8

Pax Names: Becky, ColdCuts, ET, Funny Farm, McStuffins, Meru, Sable,

The BackBlast:

This Valley Backblast was Hardcore, but not the one that meets in the Box.  And we did lift heavy objects in honor of Hardcore.  I took some jabs in the twitter sphere for poking fun at another Thursday workout because one of our pax (coldcuts) was waffling back and forth on a Valley post or a Hardcore post.  Nothing against the AO.  I have found myself in the HotBox on many a Tuesday morning gloom.  I was just headlockin Cuts and expressing my preference for the good ol’ fashioned string of pearls workout that F3 and known for.  But in honor of Hardcore, I decided we would carry heavy objects for long distances.

The warmup:

  • SSH x 20 IC
  • Squats x 20 IC
  • Imperial Walkers x 20 IC
  • Squat Straddle Hops x 20 IC (a few midwife noises coming from the pax)
  • Merkins x 10 IC
  • Squat Straddle Jumps x 10 IC – also called star jumps (lots of mumble chatter and midwife noises from the pax)

The Thang:

Mosey to the greenway bridge near Burnt Mill (plank for the six)

Bear Crawl – you’re in it – across the bridge

Mosey to the bottom of Piss Your Pants (a short but very steep lurker)

  • Sprint to the top
  • do 5 merks at the top
  • Mosey to the bottom
  • Do 10 LBC’s at the bottom
  • Repeato X 3

I beat Becky to the top the first time.  And that was the only time.  Funny Farm and Coldcuts also passed me on the second ascent.  But sorry boys, strava says I got the top speed on the day.

Plank it out for the six.

Now it was time to lift some heavy objects.  Grab a boulder from the pile.

  • First call was a rifle carry to the bridge
  • lunge walk across the bridge
  • curls x 30 IC while walking the path through the woods to South Park Tennis Club
  • Riffle Carry to the second speed bump
  • Shoulder your weight and run to burnt mill (Becky really wanted us to just throw the rocks into his front yard so he didn’t have to carry it anymore)
  • Shoulder the weight (Becky!) and run the stone back to the bottom of Piss your Pants via the greenway.

All in all it was a 1 mile carry and it was time to get back to the flag.  Sable gets mad props for have the biggest stones. Or something like that.

Mosey to the bottom of The Farm.

15 widearms IC – led by Coldcuts

Get back to flag!

Endex.

Coldcuts with a solid takeout.  Thanks brother for helping us set our minds on things above.

Moleskin:

Great job out there this morning gents.  Thanks for letting me lead.  It was hardcore enough for me and a beautiful crisp morning.  You guys make the gloom worthy of the name.  See you out there.

Announcements: Mission I’mPossible on Saturday mornings at 9am – 10k coming up!  or was it a 5k x 2.  Not sure. Maybe both.  A mini version of the GOP led F3 dads camping trip happening this weekend.
