i’m in charge here

The BackBlast:

It’s not very often that I get to be in charge. I look back on my life and I recognize most of the time I was second in command. I was vice president in 4-H,  vice president of the high school student council and vice president of the college Council. I’m a pretty good right hand man but I’ve always thought I had the potential to occupy the big chair …to drive the bus …to command the ship so to speak. And that’s the fun part about Diamond Head is the Q gets to show up and be in charge. Unlike other workouts the Q at Diamond Head is absolutely in charge and must rule with the firm hand forcing the pax into alignment when they stray.

Now if you believe that last part you’ve never been to Diamond Head. This is one reason all diamond workouts to buy me start off with the standard. After that we get to have fun. Our fun this week was doing a series of fives. First round were five lawn mowers five cleans  fly one arm presses each side then run to the temple and do five pull-ups. Five rounds of that Insanity. Then we did a bit of Mary as an intermission before doing another round of fives that included Bulgarian split squats Baryshnikov’s and goblet squats before running up to the baseball fence to do Tijuana dreamers. Another intermission of Mary before we did the last round of five which included upright rows hammer curls and flat on your back single arm chest press and then run to the top of the fire escape touch the pretty red door and back.

Mumble chatter was not as strong as it would have been had Nibbler been there. But unfortunately the temperature dipped below his mandatory 45-degree boundary. I was very impressed with the effort out of sunshine but then again most days I’m very impressed with the effort out of sunshine. We did have an interesting discussion about whether or not the name Tijuana dreamer is in fact racist. Our conclusion is that it’s not racist because it’s the Tijuana dreamer which insinuates that a person is on one side of the chain link fence dreaming of Tijuana. Had we made it the San Diego dreamer that would insinuate that somebody on the other side of the fence was dreaming of San Diego.
