KOH2024 Tryouts

The BackBlast:

Lighter-than-usual-but-stronger-than-ever crowd this morning as six men gathered at HTFS for some running and calisthenics. Sticky conditions, sucking wind, and lots of regulars DR were good reminders that summer remains in force.

The Thang:
* Traveling warmup down main drag for SSH @ Goneaway, imperial walker @ STC/greenway lot, 1-2-3 Heisman @ Burnt Mill greenway lot, and mountain climbers on Birmingham. Plank while partnering up and reviewing instructions.
* Four available legs—Colchester, Spring Valley, Burnt Mill, and Tall Oaks—with exercises and point values posted at hilltops. Included merkins/hand release/diamonds/wide arms+squats/jump lunges/Apollo Onos/bird feeders (10 each). Must return to base for Turkish getup to earn full points before starting new leg. 30 mins to collect as many points as possible.
* Brief round of LBCs and plank jacks, wrapped @ 0609, retrieved missing pax, and moseyed back to launch.

Moleskine:
* Rough go on the senses for those EC’ing or arriving on foot. Seems as if garbage pickup delayed this week. Need to ask Rawhide to inquire with Meck solid waste.
* While CFB world is rearranging, Heismans set the mood to fondly remember the glory days of the U (Abacus) and Marshall (Canary). Trivia on last winner/nominee from each.
* Vinyl sighting.
* Did well: Extra points for trying something new/creative.
* Do differently: Keep pax together and earn points as a team. Lonely stretches.
* ^Research on “Social Support and Perception of Geographic Slant” checks out (why must academicians utilize such flowery terminological exactitude? Maybe to justify the 5 extra years of school?). You could just say that “friends make hills look less steep.”
* Good question from pax on possible prize. Congrats you earn bragging rights and qualify as captains for KOH 2024. If it happens. ~259 days to get ready.
* Final results are in after Strava verification: 1) Abacus/Funny Farm 20,028.5, 2) Canary/Last Man Standing 33, 3) Omar/Waffle House 30.5.
* Awarded extra Colchester pts upon Site Q request. Blatant pandering. YHC wants to return.
