Opening Act – The Valley

The BackBlast:

The Valley is the border line of Metro and Area 51. Some days the Valley Pax attend Metro workouts and others they attend Area 51 workouts. It’s rare, maybe almost never (Unless you’re Slaughter) that Metro pax attend an Area 51 workout. I don’t know what that is, maybe Metro pax are homers, which is likely. Either way, it was great to get the call from Sable – the Valley SiteQ, to be the first 2022 Q of the Valley.

What went down…..How about an 0515 EC pre-run for about 10 pax that turned into an all out sprint for most, including YHC. Funny Farm nicely suggested that he’d show me the route, which I obliged as I was still getting the sleep crud out of my eyes. Off we went out of the AO parking lot, down to Goneway at an accelerating pace to make a right onto Park road then a quick right back to Huntingtowne Farms Lane. We passed Tormund as he ran the opposite way, I was a a bit confused but I trusted that T would find us. That hot mile took us 7 minutes so I had time for a well received and unplanned COP of lunges front and back, some merkins and maybe some SSH.

The main event kicked off promptly at 0530. A disclaimer, yes, a disclaimer was given. Slaughter liked it so much he asked me to say it again, which of course I can’t say no to the CEO. We moseyed out of the lot and I noticed a car coming into sight. The car turned out to be Meru so I went back to the parking lot for a COP while we waited for him. The COP thang….

Down to first street
Panter up – P1 Burpees while P2 run down Tempsford 1 burpee and back. Flapjack

Down to next street
Panter up P1 Squats while P2 runs to the end and does 5 merkins and back. FlapJack

Down to the greenway.
Bear crawl, increasing merkins up to 10.
SSH – In cadence until 10 then silent count stopping at 25 in unison. The pax where confused. What, we stop at 10? Why continue if you’re not counting. Well there’s a penalty of 8 count man makers if someone fails to stop at 25. That someone was our Wardaddy Checkpoint. The penalty was paid. Thanks Check!

Then we moseyed out down the greenway along the creek and there’s Funny Farm again. Hey, there’s a hill here. You think we should use it? Well yes, let’s do that. Get back with your partners if you like them, find a new one if you don’t. Partner 1 does LBC while Partner 2 runs up the hill and completes 3 merkins at the top before coming down to flapjack. We did this 2X.

Cool. We’re all warmed up now. Let’s head back to the AM making all the same stops we did to get down the greenway. Slight exercise modifications occurred to manage the clock. We arrived at the AO at 0616. Almost on time.

NMM
We had 20% of F3 Nation’s leadership present. This may be an operational risk but I was honored that Slaughter, TML and Check made the trek from their homes (which I found out Check lives just around the corner).
The opening act EC was a bit of a push. Not sure why I agreed to such none-sense but we are all better for it.
Gravedancer was celebrating his 46th birthday with us. He even wore some bad ass camo pants and a goonies Tshirt. Happy Birthday man!
The deer population in the Valley is pretty legit. Go there if you’re looking for Bambi.

Pray for Evi as she recovers from surgery
Pray for GOP, and the many of us like GOP, that are challenge with staying healthy and posting. Be that somebody that keeps us coming out.
