The BackBlast:
YHC made a triumphant (citation needed) return to Razors Edge and was pleased to see a crew ready to do some work.
Started with some SSH and then asked introduced something I thought of last night….
As a newer fan of the Chicago Bulls, I sat down last night ready to see them in the Play In tournament. And a thought occurred – what if they lose and we do one burpee for each point? But then… the Chicago Bulls played (citation needed) basketball via a demolition on home court ending their season, though a decent 4th quarter avoided us doing burpees the entire time.
So anyways, back to this AM. We paid half of the burpees up front and then short run to the lake for some partner circuits. First lap: other partner does derkins. Second lap, incline merkins. Third lap, step ups. Did another set of burpees to get us close to our goal.
Mosey to Sedgefield park. Calf raises on the stairs and then the fun (citation needed) activity of going around the gazebo via three movements (one lap each): bear crawl, crab walk, and lunge. Fletch claimed the Chicago White Sox are profoundly underrated (citation needed) and Knee Biter claimed that the Lions are winning the NFC next year (citation needed but possible). Did some mary (flutters, LBCs), incline merkins, and then some uphill crawlbears to get everyone feeling great.
Mosey back to start for more calf raises and some final burpees (thanks for not showing up last night, Bulls) before ending with more mary (dolly, rosalita, boxcutters, American Hammers) before ending with Fast Fliosophy with Fletch. Spoke on Abraham Heschel’s quote “Few are guilty, all are responsible”. Just because we didn’t cause the mess doesn’t mean we just finger point and complain. Asked the guys to think about what passions and issues they care about that they can be a part of fixing.
Ended with announcements (see below) and prayers / praises — mentions of job interviewers, family tension, and impending moves by significant others.
Announcements:
1. Metrolympics (citation needed on spelling): 5/3 at AG Middle, 7am. Forget Living Life Fest — this is the only important thing in Charlotte that weekend.
2. Bro Ruck: 5/17, starting at OMB. Show to know. Always a good time.
If you’ve read this far, text Fletch and he’ll send you $5 (citation needed).
