The BackBlast:
School’s out for summer but not for 7 “young” boys who attend summer school today at Sedgefield UMC. We all wanted to brush up our skills so we went over numbers, shapes, counting, colors, and “simple” math.
For the warmup, we started with the following:
-Merkins
-Imperial Walkers
-Side Straddle Hops
One student almost missed the bus but made it right before the wheels starting going round and round. But even before we got out of 1st gear we learned Pollinator’s favorite color is Sky Blue and Scrooge’s is Green. We moseyed through the neighborhood doing 5 burpees for every Sky Blue house we saw and every Green car (and truck) we saw. We ended up at the bus parking lot of the Sedgefield Campus Elementary School.
We partnered up. Partner 1 ran a lap on the OVAL 0.1 mile track while partner 2 did Merkins bus parking spot by bus parking spot. Each spot was numbered in ascending order in which partner 2 did that number in Merkins until the Partner 1 finished their lap. Then Flap Jack until each team reached bus parking spot #17. That’s 153 Merkins! We then did the same thing in reverse (descending order) but with LBC’s. That’s 153 LBC’s!
We then used our creativity and turned the oval into a RECTANGLE creating 4 stations and completing the Escalator. In corner 1, we did 10 Lunges (each leg), corner 2 was 20 Squats (“each leg”), corner 3 was 30 Jump Lunges (each leg or both legs…who the heck knows), and corner 4 was 40 Jump Squats.
After that, I tried to get the students into a TRIANGLE but failed miserable. It was early and only the first day of summer school so I gave up. We did complete an Ab Circuit in our deformed Triangle/Circle though. Exercises included:
-Rosalitas
-American Hammers
-Switch Kick Abs
-Hatching Butterflies (Scrooge can tell you what kind of butterfly)
-Freddie Mercurys
-Protractor
At that point, it was time to head back to the church for the last few minutes of recess. Before our mosey, we learned Pollinator’s favorite color was STILL Sky Blue, Body Bag’s is Hot Pink, and Geppetto’s is Magenta. The kids decided to go with Red and Gray instead for our burpees community run home. I gave everyone a treat and decided to call off the burpees after the 1st round since the carpool line was already starting to pile up.
When we got back to camp, we welcomed Scrooge home with a variation of the game Duck-Duck Goose. In a CIRCLE, each kid began in low plank. One by one, each kid ran around the circle and back to their spot in which they continued in low plank. We were not done until each kid had a chance to run around the circle. Can’t leave anyone out 😉
Fun was had by all (I think). No homework was given!
Announcements included:
-WhatDid is passing the torch to ColdCuts. They will both be at Parkit tomorrow morning at 5:55am.
-Geppetto reminded everyone what F3 is all about. Not just the first F. Don’t forget about the Fellowship and the Faith pieces. We are all here to help each other out. Aye!
Geppetto took us out and then everyone ran home to watch cartoons!
